DEVELOPMENT OF AN ULTRA LOW ENERGY WIRELESS AND LOW COST TELECONTROL SYSTEM PILOTING WATER DISTRIBUTION THIERRY SARTORIUS DIRECTEUR GENERAL HYDRELIS
HYDRELIS • French company operating since 2007 • Manufacturer of the water-switch-breaker • Leak detection • Clock function • Limitation of consumption • DN 15 TO DN100 • 12 years autonomy • Average 30% water savings • Key customers
MARKET STATUS • Current AMR systems are mostly designed for : • One way communications (meter reading mainly) • Proprietary systems with limited possibilities for external and standard interfaces • Current AMR systems have difficulties to deal with: • More complete exchanges (commands / remote setup) • Multiple on field devices with using different protocols • Remote control on water wastages
UP STREAM DOWN STREAM MARKET TRENDS Hydrelis has opened the way for more efficient devices with local intelligence based on flow / consumption or quality of water • These require bi-directionnal remote control communication systems for: • Data collection (meter readings) • Event-driven alarm (water leakage, quality) • Remote commands (open/close) • Remote configuration (Setup / options) This concept can be extended to other devices
PROJECT • The project is to consider: • - On field low power equipment: • Pressure measurement • Quality control • pH, • Chlorine, • Turbidity • Water switch-breakers • Actuators • Ultra low power communication systems including multi-protocol concentrators with low power radio and/or GSM/GPRS link. • Supervision tool • Data-base management tool • User-friendly Front-end • Forecasted resources consumption (Decision Support System) • Supervision according to external conditions and regulations
Tests and validation 4 Development of an advanced bi-directional communication protocols 1 Building multi-protocol interface 2 5 Field application to the Switch-Flow / Sensors / Actuators Supervision IS 6 Developping integrated low power telecontrol modules 3 THE PROJECT
