    5. 5 Spirit Rules Changes & Major Editorial Changes

    6. 6 2-1-4 Discarding Props New: When discarding props that are made of solid material or have corners or sharp edges, team members must gently toss or “place” the props.

    7. 7 2-1-7 Spring Floors Use of mini-tramps, springboards, spring-assisted floors or any height-increasing apparatus is illegal during performances and competitions. See Points of Emphasis for appropriate use of such devices during training sessions.

    8. 8 2-5-2 Basing Extended Stunts New: Bases of extended stunts must have both feet in direct weight-bearing contact with the performing surface.

    9. 9 2-8-3 Braced Stunts In braced partner stunts/pyramids, at least one bracer must be at shoulder height or below . . . EXCEPT. . .

    10. 10 2-8-3 Braced Stunts 1.These extended stunts may brace any other extended stunt: • Chair • Multi-base deadman lift • Multi-base straddle lift 2. Extensions may brace stunts listed above and other extensions (except totem pole).

    11. 11 Extended Deadman Lift. . . Now a legal bracer

    12. 12 Illegal: Check flyers’ center of gravity. SAME AS SLIDE 19SAME AS SLIDE 19

    13. 13 Illegal Bracer on right is bearing flyer’s weight. Flyers’ center of gravity not over bases.

    14. 14 Illegal: Bracer controls flyer through transition.

    15. 15 2-9-1 Forward Suspended Rolls Change: Requires flyer in both single base and double base suspended rolls to maintain hand-to-hand/arm contact with two bases or two posts during the flyer’s dismount to a cradle or the performing surface.

    16. 16 2-10-1 Tosses In all tosses: New: e. The flyer must not hold objects in her/his hands.

    17. 17 Major Editorial Changes RULE 1 1-2-2,5 Stunt Personnel Clarification: A post is a ground level person; a bracer is a second level person. 1-9-10 Non-Release Specialized Stunts New definition of Swedish Fall, specifying that it is an extended stunt. 1-10-1,3,5 Release Skills/Stunts Distinguishes different levels of force in: Art 1: Pop - controlled upward pushing motion Art 3:Toss - forceful upward throwing motion Art 5: Release stunt - moderate upward throwing motion

    18. 18 Major Editorial Changes RULE 2 2-10 Tosses Section has been revised. Art. 8 addresses “load-in” tosses. 2-11 Release Stunts New Section. Log rolls and helicopters are included in this section. 2-12-1-c L.O.C. Transitions Clarifies that the flyer’s center of gravity must remain directly over the base(s).

    19. 19 Book Corrections

    20. 20 Today’s Question . . .

    21. 21 INTERPRETING STUNT “FAMILIES”

    22. 22 Analyze - Analyze - Analyze Inverted Mounts (2-8-2-b) Checklist Is the flyer in a weight-bearing inverted position on the floor before the base(s) take her/his weight? Is the flyer moved immediately into a non-inverted position shoulder height or below? Is there someone (base/spotter) who is in a position to protect the flyer’s head/neck if she biffs it?

    23. 23 Legal Inverted Mount

    24. 24 Illegal Inverted Mount

    25. 25 . . . And Analyze Some More! L.O.C.Transitions (2-12-1) Checklist: Is the flyer constantly braced during l.o.c.? Does the flyer ever become inverted? Bracers? How many bases? Is there a separate spotter for the flyer and each bracer? Are spotters paying attention to the correct flyer? Is the flyer’s weight ever supported primarily by a bracer? Is the l.o.c. a continuous up & down movement - no pause? Does the flyer remain directly over the base(s)? Does the flyer return to the original base(s)? Is the flyer released to a toss?

    26. 26 Illegal 1. “Bracer” is not really a bracer. 2. Stunt is a dismount, not a transition. Pretty Girl Transition

    27. 27 What about the Texas Twister?
