Mitchell McDeere • He was a very ambitious law student fresh out of harvard. He was very heavily recuited by law firms but settled with a firm in memphis. The pay was better and he wanted out of the cold weather. He is very intelligent and ambitious. • He has an athletic build and works out every day. He was a quarter back when he was in college but due to a knee injury he was forced to quit. • He comes from a broken home. His father died when he was young, his mother married an abusive drunk, his brother Ray is in prison and his other brother died in Vietnam. He married Abby when he graduated from high school. Because of all this his desire to do well is very high. He works hard so that he will that make something of himself.
Ray McDeere • He is the brother of Mitch McDeere. He's a convicted felon who was in a bar fight and killed a man. While in prison ray studied languages and became fluent in many. Abby McDeere Abby is very attractive, she has long tanned legs, long brown hair and a slim physique. She has a very good relationship with Mitch, they rarely fight. Abby is very sceptical of the firm at first but then settles in. when Mitch starts working 90 hour weeks she starts to get stressed. After she discovers the truth about the firm she loses it. She leaves Mitch and goes and lives with her parents for her safety. She is also very intelligent, she is a elementary teacher. She helps Mitch in the end to screw over the firm and the FBI.
Mitch changed when he got the job with the firm. He now had money and a home. He also changed when he discovered that the firm was watching and listening to every move he made. This caused him to be more sketchy. Mitchell McDeer When the FBI approached Mitch he became more careful because he didn’t want to end up like the kozinksy and Hodges. When both the FBI and the firm are hunting for Mitch he becomes very illusive he is never caught.
Shia LeBoeuf • Shia labeouf would fit Mitchell McDeere perfect. He has the same build and hair color. He is young enough to be fresh out of law school. From his other movies he fits the part of the of a person who is very intelligent and good under preasure.
Megan Fox • Megan fox fits the physical description of Abby McDeere perfect. She has blond brown hair and is very beautiful. She also works very well with shia lebouef.
Mark Wahlberg • Mark Wahlberg would fit the part of the hardened brother who was in prison. He has the same build as Ray McDeere.
Harrison Ford • Harrison ford is an older gentleman much like Oliver Lambert . He is also tuff but caring much Ollie.
Gerard Butler • He would play Wayne Terrance a younger FBI agent. Gerard has the look of an FBI agent and is rugged and could throw down if he wanted to.
Ray charged like a battering ram and sent the Nordic crashing into a railing.(491) • He landed four bullet like jabs to the eyes and nose, each one drawing blood. (491) • The Nordic fell to all fours, and ray snapped his head with 4 powerful kicks, he groaned pitifully and fell, face first (491) • At five A.M. the alarm clock exploded on the new bed table under the new lamp, and was immediately silenced. (70) • They arrived in Memphis on a Thursday morning, and, as promised, the black 318i sat under the carport as though it belonged there.(46)
When the FBI told Mitch that the Firm was part of the mafia. If Mitch would have not helped the FBI and stuck with the firm the story would have changed a lot. The story would be a lot less suspenseful because there wouldn’t be all the conspiracy.
Ray McDeere beat up a Nordic guy who was trying to kill Mitch and Abby. Ray punched the Nordic guy as he was trying to kill Abby and Mitch. He punched him 4 times then kicked him in the head till he quit moving. This situation could not have been handled differently. If Ray had not done this Abby and Mitch would have died. If Abby and Mitch died then ray would end up back in prison. So this was a very important part in the novel.
I think John Grisham choose the title ‘the firm’ because the book is based on a law firm. I feel it fits good because every thing that happens in the book is based around the law firm Mitch works for. There is no other title that would fit as good as the firm. It is simple yet very effective.
