  2. History of Coca-Cola • Coca-cola was invented by pharmacist Dr. John Pemberton in May 1886. • In Atlanta, Georgia • He made the formula in a brass kettle in his backyard. • Frank Robinson suggested the name • Scripted the name used as logo • First sold at John’s pharmacy on May 8th, 1886

  3. History Continued… • 9 servings a day were sold • $50 were made that 1st year • Pemberton had a total of $70 in expenses • Sales were a loss • In 1887, pharmacist Asa Candler bought formula for $2,300 • Coca Cola Company increased sales by over 4000% between 1890 and 1900.

Practical Use • To drink and enjoy • Coca-cola products are consumed at more that one billion drinks per day • Used to cook • Banana Cake, Barbequed Ham, Casserole BBQ, Chicken, Barbeque Sauce • Used to clean up residue from spilled battery acid. • Removes grass and grease stains of clothing • Removes rust from car bumpers

  5. Today • Today’s coke ads have kids’ role models or celebrities drinking coke. • Movies have actors and actresses drinking coke.

  6. Today continued… • Coca-cola came up with new flavors • Diet, vanilla, cherry, lime, zero, no-calorie, black cherry vanilla • All both diet and regular
