  4. The ERAS Process

  5. In Mid-June, select “Resources to Download” to get User Guide

  6. User Guide - Essential • Download the User Guide • Print it out (it’s 30 pages, but well worth it!) • Have it in front of you when you’re working on ERAS

  7. In early July, use your token to register for ERAS

  8. Early July • You can begin working on your ERAS as soon as you get your token from Lora • You select programs and assign documents to them, but cannot apply to programs until Sept 1st

  9. CV & PS • Use your CV to complete your Common Application Form (CAF) in ERAS • Save your Personal Statement as a text file, then copy and paste it into ERAS

  10. LORs • Cover sheet for requesting an LOR • A copy is in your packet and you can print one from website at: http://medschool.creighton.edu/medicine/admin/staffairs/forms/index.php • LORs are emailed in PDFs or mailed or delivered to Lora

  11. LORs • Lora will email to you when she receives a letter for you • If errors, you are responsible for contacting the writer • If you approve of LOR, tell Lora

  12. LORs • The ERAS Post Office opens Sept 1st and programs can download your documents ongoingly after that date • Shoot for Oct 1st for LOR deadline, but sooner is better to have at least a couple LORs

  13. LOR Recap • Request LORs (provide cover sheet) • Approve your LORs with Lora • Type writers’ names in ERAS • Assign LORs to your programs • Lora uploads LORs to the ERAS Post Office • Programs download LORs from the ERAS Post Office (after Sept 1st)

  14. ERAS Fees • Application fee (10 progs) – $60 • 11-20 programs – $8 each • 21-30 programs – $15 each • ≥ 31 programs – $25 each

  15. USMLE Scores • Know your USMLE ID number – you’ll need it to release your scores via ERAS • First question: answer “yes” • Second question: if you want Step 2 score automatically released, say “yes”

  16. USMLE Scores • If you want to see your Step 2 score before the NBME re-releases it to ERAS, say “no” to second question • Then remember to go into ERAS and manually re-release your Step 2 score

  17. ERAS Photo • 2x3” photo – professional! • You may get wallet-sized photos from Kim Photography, 504-1055 • Pay Kim to have her email it to me • Or you deliver photo to me

  18. Professional photo vs Not

  19. Academic Transcripts • We’ll produce a transcript for you on plain paper to facilitate the scanning process. • Transcripts from the Registrar’s Office are printed on Security paper, which renders them unreadable.

  20. ADTS – After Sept 1st • Use the Applicant Document Tracking System to see what documents have been uploaded and downloaded in ERAS • Access ADTS at www.aamc.org/eras/adts

  21. Select ADTS

  22. Login

  23. On ADTS you can see: • The programs you’ve applied to • Which documents Lora has uploaded (and when) • Which documents programs have downloaded (and when)

  24. Final Points • ERAS is designed to be dynamic • Don’t wait till every document is in place before you submit your ERAS • Complete the profile and CAF (the CAF can’t be changed once certified and submitted) near Sept 1st

  25. Final Points • LORs, transcripts, and photo can be added as they arrive • The sooner programs get your profile and CAF, the sooner they can invite you to interview • Programs will want your application complete before you interview there

  26. Lora@creighton.edu • I am here for you • I will monitor your progress throughout the ERAS process • I will answer your questions and help you through it all
