STOP !! • Before you proceed, read the instruction manual for both the Cradle and Pocket PC. • Install the Battery into the PPT-2800 (Pocket PC) (See page 5 in the Instruction Manual) • Plug in the Cradle and Place the PPT-2800 (Pocket PC) into the Cradle and allow it to charge for at least 2 ½ hours (See pages 6 & 7 of the Instruction Manual)

  4. Turning on the Pocket PC for the First Time • Press the red button to turn it on • The Pocket PC will display a Welcome Screen and take you through a setup process Power Button

  5. Today Screen • Once you have gone through the setup process you will arrive at the “Today Screen”. (See page 14 in the Instruction Manual) • This screen is similar to a Windows computer screen, however, the “START” button is located at the top of the screen.

  6. Starting FIRE-TRAX • Using your Stylus, press the START button. This will open a list of programs you can use. • Select and press the program called “Fire-Trax PAS Mobile” – this will bring up the Fire-Trax program

  7. Fire-Trax Main Screen • You will see a screen similar to this • Using your stylus, click on the “Start New Incident” button on the bottom of the screen • The unit is now ready to scan cards

  8. Scanning Buttons • The yellow buttons activate the scanner • There are 3 yellow buttons: • 1 on the top front • 1 on each side • The scanner is located in the front of the unit

  9. WARNING NEVER AIM THE LASER AT SOMEONES EYES OR STARE INTO THE BEAM

Scanning ID Information • On the front of the card is ID information stored in the Bar Code. • Hold the scanner approximately 4 to 8 inches from the barcode and press one of the yellow buttons – aim the red laser bar at the barcode • The Pocket PC will beep to let you know of a successful scan

  11. Information Stored in the ID • Name (Last, First) • Department • PIN / Badge Number • This information is displayed in the center box on the screen

  12. Scanning Medical Information • On the back of the card is Medical Information stored in the Bar Code. • Hold the scanner approximately 4 to 8 inches from the barcode and press one of the yellow buttons – aim the red laser bar at the barcode • The Pocket PC will beep to let you know of a successful scan

  13. Medical Information Stored on the Card • The PIN/Badge number of the card being scanned • Their primary doctors name and phone number • Their emergency contact information • Allergies & Medications • Organ Donor • Resting Pulse Rate & Normal B/P • Blood Type, Sex, and Religion

  14. Medical Confidentiality REMEMBER All information stored in the Medical Information Barcode is PRIVATE and should not be viewed unless permission is given by the cardholder or in the event of a medical emergency.
