ILO Instruments ILO formulates international labour standards in the form of Conventions and Recommendations setting minimum standards of basic labour rights: • freedom of association, • the right to organize, and collective bargaining, • abolition of forced labour, • equality of opportunity and treatment, • abolotion of child labour • and other standards

  4. Workers and Employers ILO promotes the development of independent employers' and workers' organizations and provides training and advisory services to those organizations

Training Subjects • International labour standards and workers' rights • Policies for decent employment • Social protection, with a specific focus on social security and occupational safety, health and the environment • Social dialogue, with an emphasis on collective bargaining and labour relations • Gender mainstreaming and women workers' rights • Training methodology, distance education and the use of information technology

  9. Information Technology for Trade Unions • Information technology training during residential courses • Establishment of SoliComm: email, web hosting, conferencing, e-library • Distance education courses and workshops (12 in 2004) • Use of information technology for pre- and post-course activities
