  2. However, we are all human and we tend to forget things, including the renewal date of our insurance policy. It’s a common mistake and many individuals find themselves with a lapsed policy every year - for their benefits (and yours if you’ve forgotten to renew your plan), we have highlighted the procedure to renew an expired insurance policy.

  3. Can your policy renewed in the first place? A lapsed policy can be saved only if you renew it within 90 days of its expiry date. Wait any longer and you’ll have to buy a new policy. However, the bright side is that you may look to a new 2 wheeler insurance company to buy your new plan. This is a good option if you are not satisfied with the current insurer or if you want a more affordable plan.

  4. Visiting a branch is your first option. The first way to reinstate a lapsed bike insurance policy is to simply visit your insurance provider’s branch. They may do a spot evaluation of the vehicle before quickly renewing your insurance policy. All you have to do is provide the relevant documentation, pay the premium and you’re good to go!

  5. You could renew it online if your insurer has the option. These days, many new-age bike insurance companies allow online renewal of a lapsed policy. You don’t even need to do an evaluation; just enter your policy details, make the payment and you are done! Some two wheeler insurance providers also have apps wherein you can do a self-evaluation, post which you make the premium payments and you’ll be provided with a new insurance policy.

  6. How to ensure your policy doesn’t lapse again? If you don’t already have a reminder service activated, it makes sense to get it done. At least you will get an SMS or a call reminding you to get your two wheeler insurance policy renewed.. If you want to free yourself from the hassles of yearly renewals, you could simply opt for long term plans – these plans do not need to be renewed for 5 years!
