  1. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • If we build on a solid foundation then we will be able to stand whatever may come. (Psa 27:4-7)

  2. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Psalm 27:4-7 (NKJV) - One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. 5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

  3. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • 6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

  4. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Changes will come in our lives in many ways.

  5. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Some changes will be a result of circumstances (death, divorce, sickness) while others are a matter of age and maturity.

  6. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Some changes will be a result of circumstances (death, divorce, sickness) while others are a matter of age and maturity. • We do not tend to manage change well! Why did Israel want to return to slavery? (Num 11:4-6)

  7. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Numbers 11:4-6 (NKJV) - Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “Who will give us meat to eat? 5 We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

  8. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • As we get older there will be great changes that we must adjust to.

  9. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • As we get older there will be great changes that we must adjust to. • I am amused by the small changes I see in myself concerning tastes.

  10. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • As we get older there will be great changes that we must adjust to. • I am amused by the small changes I see in myself concerning tastes. • When real changes come we need the wisdom to understand ourselves and the new opportunities and temptations these changes bring. (Prov 2:1-9)

  11. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Proverbs 2:1-9 (NKJV) - My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, 2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, Andapply your heart to understanding; 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;

  12. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • 5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; 8 He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. 9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity andevery good path.

  13. We will face very different times during the course of our life. • Consider these four times of change.

  14. The Teenage Years • God wants you to enjoy life in your youth. (Ecc 11:9-10)

  15. The Teenage Years • Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 (NKJV) - Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth; Walk in the ways of your heart, And in the sight of your eyes; But know that for all these God will bring you into judgment.

  16. The Teenage Years • 10 Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, And put away evil from your flesh, For childhood and youth are vanity.

  17. The Teenage Years • Youth is generally a time of less physical encumbrances. There is no house payments or a family to feed.

  18. The Teenage Years • Youth is generally a time of less physical encumbrances. There is no house payments or a family to feed. • This is a time of great pressure to follow others. Here is where wisdom will give you strength to break away from the crowd.

  19. The Teenage Years • Please have the wisdom to listen and stand upon God's word. (Prov 1:1-9)

  20. The Teenage Years • Proverbs 1:1-9 (NKJV) - The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity;

  21. The Teenage Years • 4 To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— …. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; 9 For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck.

  22. The Teenage Years • Beware of the "Invincibility Syndrome.”

  23. The Teenage Years • Beware of the "Invincibility Syndrome.'“ • How many you people have though, "I'll never get pregnant," or "I'll never get AIDS," or "I can drink and drive!“

  24. The Teenage Years • Beware of the "Invincibility Syndrome.'“ • How many you people have though, "I'll never get pregnant," or "I'll never get AIDS," or "I can drink and drive!“ • Often there is carelessness about sin and its consequences too. As we see, the greater consequences of sin will occur later!(Gal 6:6-7)

  25. The Teenage Years • Galatians 6:6-7 (NKJV) - Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

  26. The Teenage Years • Beware of putting off the hard decisions.

  27. The Teenage Years • Beware of putting off the hard decisions. • Some think that since their whole life is ahead that they will have plenty of time for the hard decisions.

  28. The Teenage Years • In this mindset you emphasize the short term things that satisfy (Cars, dates, sports, college..) and ignore eternal things.

  29. The Teenage Years • In this mindset you emphasize the short term things that satisfy (Cars, dates, sports, college..) and ignore eternal things. • Satan wants to teach you the lie that life cannot be fulfilling while serving God in your youth. (1 Tim 4:12-16)

  30. The Teenage Years • 1 Timothy 4:12-16 (NKJV) - Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

  31. The Teenage Years • 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

  32. The Teenage Years • The priorities you set in youth will often follow you all your life. (Ex. Kenneth Reed's advice to students) (Ecc 12:1, 13-14)

  33. The Teenage Years • Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NKJV) - Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”:

  43. The Building of a Home • 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

  47. The Building of a Home • When children appear the time demands can seem unmanageable. Sadly children are often shortchanged because of decisions we have made.
