He swore revenge • When the British invaded in 1781, Fanning became a colonel • Was very evil • Stole • Murdered • Raped • Tory/Whig war ends 1782 • Pardon was issued to Tories who fought solely because the King wanted them to in 1784 • The War left NC destitute • Ports were closed • Farms ruined
