  5. Year 7 Two Classes Year 8 Two Classes Year 9 and above Three Classes Years 7 to 13 – 450 girls

  6. YEAR NINE Students take a core programme of: • English 4 periods a week • Mathematics 4 periods a week • Science 4 periods a week • Social Studies 3 periods a week • Religious Studies 1 period a week • Physical Education and Swimming 2 periods a week

  7. Year Nine continued… All students also study six Units or Modules which comprise: • Drama and Dance • Health • Technology • Music • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) (Two Units of ICT) 4 periods a week (each Unit or Module is studied for 2 periods a week for a third of the year)

  8. Year Nine continued… In addition, each student chooses three option subjects from the following list. Option subjects are studied for a full year. • Art • Chinese (Mandarin) • Economics • French • German • Music 9 periods a week (3 periods for each option subject)Total: 31 periods in the week

  9. YEAR TEN Students take a core programme of: • English 4 periods a week • Mathematics 4 periods a week • Science 4 periods a week • Social Studies 3 periods a week • Physical Education 2 periods a week

  10. Year Ten continued… All students also study four Units or Modules which comprise: • Drama and Dance • Health • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) • Religious Studies 2 periods a week (each Unit or Module is studied for 2 periods a week for a term)

Students may drop an option subject at the end of Year 9 and pick up another one at Year 10 level. Option subjects are studied for a full year. • Art • Chinese (Mandarin) • Computing • Economics • French • German • Music 12 periods a week (4 periods for each option subject)Total: 31 periods in the week

  12. YEAR THIRTEEN Five or six NCEA Level 3 subjects may be taken at this level and English is no longer compulsory. Six subjects is a significant commitment. Students can also enter NCEA Scholarship. The subjects offered are:

  13. Year Thirteen continued… Students may take a NCEA Level 2 subject in place of a Level 3 subject, if the timetable permits.
