  2. About the Author • Born March 5, 1853. • Died November 9, 1911. • He wrote many stories about King Arthur, Robin Hood, and also Pirates. • Founded his school of Illustration Art after the 1900.

  3. Tone, Theme, and Setting • The tone of the book is cheery. It tells the story in the veiw of the being passed down through the ages. • The theme of the book is in modern English. • The Setting of the story is in the 1100’s England. Also in the town of Nottingham and Sherwood Forest.

  4. Characters • Robin Hood- The outlaw who lives in Sherwood Forest with him band of merry men. • Little John- Robin Hood’s second in command and trusted friend. • Arthur A Bland- A tanner who joins Robin’s gang after a fight with Little John. • Will Scarlett- Robin’s nephew who joins up with the merry men. • Allan A Dale- a minstrel that joins the band of outlaws after Robin aids by helping him marry his sweetheart. • Friar Tuck- An unholy friar that Robin convinces to join his band of outlaws after the Friar marries Allan A Dale to his sweet heart. • Sheriff of Nottingham- The evil Sheriff that vows to capture Robin Hood and bring him to justice. • Guy of Gisbourne- A murder the Sheriff hires to capture Robin Hood.

  5. Summery Robin Hood is traveling through Sherwood forest when he meets several of the King’s Foresters. They challenge him the a shooting match by telling him to shoot a deer at the far end of the glade. Robin shoots the deer and wins the match but the Foresters say he has poached a King’s deer and must be arrested. As Robin flees the lead Forester sends an arrow after Robin that misses him by a hair. Robin sends one back at the Forester and kills him instantly. Robin flees into Sherwood Forest. The Forester that Robin killed was a relative of the Sheriff of Nottingham. The Sheriff places a bounty on Robin Hood and vows revenge. Robin abides in Sherwood Forest for one yearn and he soon gains a band of followers of seven-score men. They appoint him their leader and choose a uniform of Lincoln green. they vow to help the poor and deserving by robbing the rich to feed the poor. Robin is walking through the forest one day when he come to a river with a log for a bridge. As he step on to the log so does a stranger. The stranger is seven feet tall an carries an oaken staff. Robin tell the stranger to move a side yet the tall man does not move. So Robin finds himself a staff and steps onto the log to fight the stranger.

  6. Summery cont. Robin and the stranger fight matching blow for blow. The Stranger lands a hard crack to Robin’s ribs and then hits him over the head and into the river. Robin calls his men and the start to attack the tall stranger, but Robin tells them not to harm him. He ask the stranger his name and the stranger tells him it is John Little. Robin tell him to join him and to be his second-in-command and that his new name is Little John. The Sheriff of Nottingham decided to lay a trap for Robin Hood. He plan to hold an archery tournament with a golden arrow as a prize for the winner. Robin Hood decides to go and shoot at the contest. He disguises himself and wins the contest taking the golden arrow for his own. After several other adventures Robin Hood meets Guy of Gisbourne. They fight and Robin Hood win by killing Guy. Meanwhile, Little John is captured by the Sheriff. Robin dresses himself in Guy of Gisboure’s clothes and rescues Little John. After all this Robin Hood and His men have a final battle with the Sheriff and end it by killing the Sheriff. Robin is injured in the fight and is taken to a nunnery to get treated. Yet the nun treating him was loyal to the Sheriff and bleeds Robin and lets him lose too much blood. Robin shoots his final arrow and wish to be buried where it lands.

  7. Critique • It was a fun read with some interesting characters. • I would recommend it to those who think they know the story of Robin Hood. • I would not change anything in the book.
