ASPHA – MINWARM ASPHALT MIXES A Division of Eurovia
Eurovia / MHI Originators of Zeolite Warm Mix Technology
History Development starts at MHI Earliest trial sites on public roads in Germany (Hesse and Thuringia) Start of an international corporation with EUROVIA; numerous sites in Europe and North America since then Start of the distribution company 1995 1999 2001 2006 aspha-min GmbH, Hanau (Germany)
Product Info [aspha-min®]; synthetically manufactured zeolite (containing approx. 20 % water of crystallisation by mass) allowing the manufacture of warm mixed asphalt © 2007 aspha-min GmbH, Hanau (Germany).
Product Info Impact of aspha-min®: • Added to the mix shortly before or at the same time as the binder at a rate of 0.3% by mass, the zeolite starts to release water, creating a very fine water spray • This controlled foaming effect leads to a slight increase of the binder volume • The gradual release of the water provides the impact over a longer period of time (6 to 7 hrs.) • The effect lasts until the mix has cooled to (212° F) thus ensuring comfortable workability of the mix © 2007 aspha-min GmbH, Hanau (Germany).
Product Info Benefits of aspha-min® in WMA: • Compatible with all currently used types of binder • Compatible with all currently used types of mix • Compatible with the use of RAP • No change to the ball-and-pen value • Easy handling and dosing • Stable storage when kept dry • No additional storage facilities for pre-mixed binder • No major modifications to the plant • No prolongation of the mixing time © 2007 aspha-min GmbH, Hanau (Germany).
