Continuum of Care • Housing Action Illinois and SHPA co-host the Continuum of Care Committee. • Meet on the fourth Thursday at 10am via conference call. • Recent discussion has centered around ESG and Homeless Definition changes and the end of HPRP. • To join, simply fill out the form in your packet and give to SHPA staff.

  3. Strategic Directions During our Annual Meeting in October of 2011, we went through a strategic direction process with facilitator Mary Lu Seidel. We had great input, ideas and energy during the meeting and afterwards from those who couldn’t attend in person.

  4. Strategic directions • The Executive and Governance Committees, led by Mary Lu Seidel distilled the input from the Annual Meeting process into Strategic Directions for the Supportive Housing Providers Association. • ADVOCACY • Administrative-Advocate with state agencies (i.e. IDHS, IHDA, etc.) for regulations, policies and funding that embrace successful supportive housing. • Legislative–Advocate with local, state and federal legislators for legislation and budgets that increase ability to develop, strengthen and maintain supportive housing.

Strategic Directions • ADVOCACY • Community – Advocate to and educate stakeholders and community at large to support the development and maintenance of quality supportive housing. • CAPACITY BUILDING • Innovative Practices–Promote, study and develop innovative practices and strategies to improve supportive housing as an association and through collaboration. • Quality Improvement-Disseminate innovative, effective and efficient practices to improve the quality and quantity of permanent supportive housing.

  6. Strategic Directions • CAPACITY BUILDING • Resource Hub-Maintain and enhance position as a recognized expert on and resource for supportive housing. • RESIDENTS • Engagement-Prioritize meaningful resident involvement in their communities and the Association. • Leadership Development-Cultivate leadership skills and provide the tools which promote civic participation, advocacy and self-efficacy.

  7. Strategic directions • RESIDENTS • Action-Facilitate and support networking and advocacy opportunities. • Now the staff will take this direction and create a strategic plan for the next year with concrete steps to carry us in our strategic directions. • Thanks so much for your input!
