  1. 2009 Kentucky Horse Race/Park Robotics Challenge

  2. Title: Grab derby hat Task: Pull the derby hat off of the center plate. The hat must be on your side for points. Scoring: 15 points if hat is on your side. 25 points if you get hat back to the safe zone.

  3. Title: Remove trailer from the stables. Task: Retrieve the trailer from the stables. All four wheels must be out of the stables (brown) to score Scoring: 25 points NOTE: A team can score 2 points if the hay bales are outside of base and have not been taken by the judge. To score 5 points per bale they need to be retrieved back to the safe zone. See Q&A.

  4. Title: Track Entrance Gate . Task: Close the gate. Scoring: 15 points with the entire gate touching the white square. It cannot be in the black line.

  5. The trophy should be positioned in the corner closest to the safe zone. Full Points Partial Title: Deliver The Governor the Trophy. Task: Push the trophy into the governor’s seal. Scoring: 15 points for any part of the trophy touching the seal. 20 points with all parts of the trophy inside the seal.

  6. The jockey should be positioned in the corner closest to the safe zone Title: Retrieve Jockey. Task: Bring the jockey to safe zone. Scoring: 20 points.

  7. The horse should be positioned in the corner closest to the safe zone Title: Place bed of roses on horse. Task: Place the roses from safe zone onto the horse. Scoring: 30 points for the roses resting on the horse, arm beams must straddle the horse.

  8. Title: Feed Horses in the Barn . Task: Place the food container into the barn on the OTHER teams board. Scoring: 50 points with the container in the barn. 30 points with any part of the container touching the grass (green).

  9. Title: Move White Horse From Starting Position. Task: Touch the white horse so that its off the starting position. Must be visual movement at the end of the round. The horses will be in different order. See pictures above. Scoring: 45 points . No points if black horses are moved from their position.

  10. Title: Raise The Flag. Task: Raise the flag so that it is in an upright position. Scoring: 15 points. To score points the axel, without the grey stud, must be touching the board.

  11. Title: Finish in Winner’s Square. Task: End your round on the winner’s square. Robot must in the square at the end of the round. Scoring: 30 points for your whole robot on the white winner’s square. 15 points for robot in white square but part of robot touching the green part of the mat.

  12. HAY BALES Title: Hay Bales. Task: Retrieve the hale bales. Scoring: 5 points for hay bales in base, 2 for hay bales out of base. If you touch your robot outside of the safe zone, the judge will take one hale bale for each touch. If hale bales are in trailer and on the mat the judges will take those on the mat first.

  13. Tiebreaker The wheel will be mounted to the side of the board near the Winner’s Square. Spin the wheel to end your run.

  14. Dual Lock ObjectsYou can use Dual Lock 3M, carpet tape, or any other adhesive. FYI- The tournaments will use Dual Lock. • Flag • Gate • Large Horse • Platform Between Boards
