Working Group 4 Objectives The objectives of this working group are to foster technology transfer in the form of sharing basic knowledge and, where applicable, sharing modules/tools for the betterment of the modeling community. The hope is that through this technology transfer, collaborations between individual agencies and individual researchers can be achieved such that joint projects and research development efforts can be initiated.
Working Group 4 Current Activities Conference Calls a.) Conference call to introduce new members and discuss current projects. b.) Webinar – Object Modeling System (OMS) – presented by Dr. Olaf David c.) We are planning on doing one webinar each quarter.
Working Group 4 Current Activities OMS-EMS working meeting in Fort Collins between ARS, NRCS, and USACE personnel – July 2011 a.) Ecological Modeling System (EMS) team leaders from ERDC-USACE are evaluating frameworks to use in the development of an EMS. b.) Discussions emanating from this meeting have caused other ERDC teams to start considering OMS as a platform for future development efforts.
Working Group 4 Current Activities Working jointly with Boris Faybishenko (LBL) and Yasuo Onishi (PNNL) on Chernobyl Watershed proposal. a.) Need to identify funding sources to make this a reality. b.) Need to consider adding more federal partners to the proposal. c.) ERDC can do some small scale testing using TREECS and GSSHA-CTT&F.
Working Group 4 Future Directions a.) Need to broaden the scope of the group. b.) Need to set up an ISCMEM sponsored OMS training workshop. c.) Need to possibly broaden the Chernobyl Watershed proposal to become an ISCMEM initiative that would include more agencies and modeling systems. d.) Need to continue identifying individuals from the various agencies that would like to participate in the working group.
