  2. About Pforzheim • Located in the south-west of Germany near Stuttgart • Called the „Gate“ to the Black Forest • 110.000 inhabitants • Founded by the Romans

  3. Main Industries in Pforzheim • Production of jewelry Because of its importance in this industry Pforzheim has received the nickname „Goldtown“. • Metallic industry The metallic industry in Pforzheim is mainly associated with the production and design of car parts.

  7. Johanna-Wittum-School • A vocational high school • 1300 students and 137 teachers • Founded in 1973 Our school is specialized in 3 different branches:Biotechnology, Nutritional Science with Chemistry and Social Sciences.

  8. Johanna-Wittum-School We are among the first four biotechnological high schools in Germany which were founded in 2001/02. We are equipped with two security labs for genetic engineering experiments on level one (S1-lab).

  9. Johanna-Wittum-School JWS is a competence center for regional teacher education in the field of biotechnology.
