  5. Night Shelter • Also previously funded by Asha • Was supposed to be a night shelter for the kids • Did not work out due to financial restraints and security issues • Instead converting it into vocational school on 2nd floor for beauty salon and fashion design • Machines and beauty supplies have been bought already • Finances are being worked out • First floor has a computer room, kitchen and area for meals

  6. Updates • Mau Center • Land has not been purchased yet • Having trouble acquiring property due to nature of activities • Close to making a purchase • Asha sent $10,000 last May • Guria’s additional sources of funding • Rs. 800,000 ($14,742) from Actionaid • Of the Rs. 1,851,774 for the project, need Rs. 497379 ($9165) • Will raise rest after purchase

  7. Site Visit Details • Manju and staff are engaging and excited about what they do • Creative approaches to dealing with children • Office sells cards made by the children to raise money • Donations are not necessarily earmarked for specific activities • Trying to take legal action against perpetrators could potentially be more of a financial drain than NFE centers • Mentioned “fundraising risk” is that activities require dealing with corruption • Also risk of political pressure and death threats against organization
