What is PIP TALKS? • University style conference, UIL style • Students prepare a “Ted Talk” on any subject of their choosing and present at the conference. • March 1, all students come and present, open to the public. • March 22, top five scores compete followed by an awards ceremony. • PIP (Partners in Purple) reflects our collaboration with TCU • TCU Workshops to create documentaries and power points • TCU provides judges • TCU provides mentors
WHY PIP TALKS? • Our number one goal is to get kids excited about learning. About learning ANYTHING! • We want to help PIP TALKS become a bridge between our on level and AP populations by encouraging students to participate in ANY areas they might find interesting. • We want students to enjoy the process by working with their friends and finding a connection with a mentor teacher.
New this year • Web site • Senior scholarship • Mentor Interest Groups • Need faculty to sponsor small groups of students to direct them to appropriate topics and research in any field of interest. Does not have to be your teaching field.
Important Dates • Launch of Web-site and sign ups for interest groups (November) • TCU and Paschal Technology Workshops begin January 20. • First round of conference: March 1 at Paschal • Final competition and awards ceremony: March 22, Todd Theater
