  2. Vision Provide an integrated approach to make NDSU a disaster resistant, resilient and sustainable university.

  3. Goal To create and upgrade infrastructure to ensure the disaster resistance, resilience and continued sustainable development of the university.

  4. Organizing Resources • Tasks • Create planning team and advisory board • Develop methodology for data gathering • Study best practices currently utilized by peer institutions • Examine local mitigation plans Complete Complete On-going Complete

Hazard Risk Assessment • Tasks • Identify all potential hazards • Examine university disaster history (vulnerability) • Establish previous costs as a portion of cost/benefit analysis • Examine and establish risk assessment methodology • Conduct risk assessment for campus Complete Complete Complete On-going

  6. Evaluation of Buildings Structural Social Security Network-Cyber Administrative Evaluation of Grounds Electricity Water Sewer/Storm Transportation Vulnerability & Risk Assessment

  7. Developing the Plan • Tasks • Identify mitigation projects • Feasibility • Historical/Environmental impact • Rank mitigation projects based on risk assessment and cost/benefit analysis

  8. Implementing the Plan • Tasks • Develop necessary support to adopt the plan • Implement the plan • University impact analysis of projects • Apply for PDM to advance mitigation strategy

University Background • Student population • Around 12,000 • Faculty and staff • 500 faculty and 1000 support staff • Campus • 89 Buildings on main campus spread over 258 acres • 22,053 total acres of North Dakota • including the main Agricultural Experimental Station in Fargo and seven research centers located throughout the state.
