  2. Map of Biome

  3. Location of Biome • The location of the marine biome is anywhere there is water. It includes 5 main oceans -Pacific -Atlantic -Indian -Arctic -Southern

  4. Climate • The climate of the marine biome does not change very often. • The temperature is dependent on what currents the ocean carries. • The precipitation depends on where you are in the world.

  5. Plants in Biome • Kelp • Phytoplankton • Posidoniaceae • Cymodoceaceae • Zosteraceae

  6. Animals in Biome • Mollusks • Blue Whale • Crustaceans • Sharks • Fish

  7. Food Web

  8. Symbiotic Relationship • Mutualism: Remoras on a shark, because the shark is getting clean and the remoras getting a meal. • Commensalism: The anemone and the anemone fish, because the fish gets a protective home and the anemone is unaffected. • Parasitism: Sea lice and fish, because the sea lice will bite the fish. It won’t kill the fish, but it will ham them. Mutualism Commensalism Parasitism

  9. Co-evolution of Biome • Angler fish have evolved to be able to live in the dark. They have developed a light called bioluminescent.

  10. Natural Resources of Biome • Sea animals are caught and then cooked to make food. • Toothpaste contains kelp. • The salt we use on our food. • Oil we drill for crude oil.

  11. Current Threats to the Biome • Oil Spills • Dumping of trash and toxic waste • Bottom Trawling • Bycatch • Fish Farming
