  1. FINDING TRUE CONTENTMENT “Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am” (Phil. 4:11).

  2. Our Terrible Thirst • For more. It’s the source of progress… • Did you count some of your blessings this week? • Or did you focus on what you don’t have? • “Arkeo” – to be satisfied. • Content – “desiring no more that what one has.” • From whence arises “contentment”?

  3. Through Fear of God • Proverbs 19:23 • A good meal, a new “set” of clothes, a new car; all give a sense of well being. A thrill that satisfies for a moment. • There are less “expensive”, yet just as real paths to contentment. God teaches them. • “The reward of a job well done is to have done it.”

  4. Through A Desire for Righteousness • Matt. 5:6 • We hunger for success, riches, fame. • Our point of view is shortsighted – Col. 3:2 • I Pet. 2:2; Heb. 5:12-14 • God promises to “Fill” us.

  5. Through Trust In God’s Care • Psalm 107:8-9 • Isa. 55:1-3 • Phil. 4:13 • Was Paul ambitious? Driven? • How could he accomplish anything in prison?

  6. Through Trust In God’s Promises • Acts 27:25 • 2 Timothy 1:12 • Is life difficult? – John 10:28-29 • Burdens hard to bear? – Matt. 10:28 • Life in chaos? – Phil. 4:7 • Temptations intense – Heb. 2:18 • Fear of being lost – Heb. 7:25

  7. Through A Relationship W/Jesus • The “water of life” – John 7:37 • Revelation 21:6 • The Word produces faith – Rom. 10:17 • Faith leads to repentance. • Repentance to confession of faith in Christ • Confession must be followed by baptism. • If He is really yours, what more do you need?
