  2. Physical Education Class My topic of choice for Jamaica to study is physical education. How important is physical education to the Jamaican schools? What activities do they primarily focus on? How long is class? How often is class held a week?

  3. Physical Education Class How many students are in the class? How many grades at a time are in class?

  4. Enjoyment Do the children in Jamaica enjoy physical education? What’s their favorite activity?

  5. Teacher I would like to observe how the teacher teaches as well. Do they asses the children in multiple ways? Do they accommodate children that may not be able to perform the activities? How does the teacher treat their students?

  6. Interaction I would like to observe how the children interact with their physical education teacher as well.

  7. Attitude Also, how well do the children treat each other in physical education class? Many children in America are mean to other children. Do Jamaican students act the same?

  8. Equipment How much equipment do the teachers have to work with? Do the children treat the equipment well?

  9. Cooperation It’s important to cooperate with others in physical education class. Do the children do just that? Do all the children perform the activities?

  10. Discipline How does the teacher discipline children who act out? Is there any discipline used in class?

  11. Other teachers How do other teachers view physical education class?

  12. Dress code Is there a dress code in any of the grades?

  13. Overcoming obstacles What type of obstacles is the teachers presented with? Example: Lack of equipment, trouble students, trouble teachers Is the teacher able to overcome any obstacles?

  14. Benefits and Values In Jamaica, are there the same benefits and values as here in the U.S? Does the teacher follow standards or guidelines? If so, what are they?

  15. Support Many of the worlds greatest athletes come from Jamaica. Jamaica takes great pride in that. Does Jamaica support physical education more than any other subject is school?

  16. Track and Field Track and Field is a big sport in Jamaica. Many of the top runners in the world come from Jamaica. Does the love of running come from an early age because of such a strong focus in track and field in physical education? Also, how serious do they take track and field. Do they focus more on that than any other sport?

  17. Track and Field Competitions I have read that there is a yearly sport day for Kindergarten, primary schools, high and college students. How often do the children practice in meets? How young do the children start competing? Do they compete on school teams? Are children hand picked and placed on the team or can any one join?

  18. Track and Field Competitions Do professional athletes from Jamaica come into the schools and talk to the children about training?

  19. History How long has physical education been in the school system? How has it evolved?
