  4. Too unfit to run: Two-year-old who smokes 40 cigarettes a day puffs away on a toy truck By Mail Foreign ServiceLast updated at 2:59 PM on 27th May 2010 Taking a deep drag on his cigarette while resting on the steering wheel of his truck, he looks like a parody of a middle-agedlorrydriver. But the image covers up a much more disturbing truth: At just the tender age of two, Ardi Rizal's health has been so ruined by his 40-a-day habit that he now struggles to move by himself. The four-stone Indonesia toddler is certainly far too unfit to run around with other children - and his condition is  set to rapidly deteriorate. • Skim the Text • Parody – what does this mean? • Lorry – Why didn’t they use ‘truck’? In what country was the text written? • Stone – How much is this in Kilograms? • Rapidly deteriorate – how could it get worse – what kinds of things might this mean? • Author and updated information – What kind of text is this?

  5. Scan the text, using Selective Highlighting • He is two, he should be unfit at all, for any reason. • A two year old smoking? Legally you have to be 18, what is going on? Where are his parents? • His health has been ruined – can he get healthy again or is it too late. • What other implications does this have for him, could he possible die? • He is overweight. • He can’t socialise and be a kid.
