LIVING CORPORATE VALUES A CONVERSATION STARTER
This is a 90-minute workshop meant to be used by teams to explore corporate values in context
Understand the corporate values • Understand how to relate corporate values to your daily work • Understand how to live corporate values in practice • Understand how the importance of values can differ from one department or one individual to another • Understand different, but valid, ways to interpret meanings
By way of example, we’ll use 4 corporate values: • Deliver Together • Act Responsibly • Realize the Power of our People • Trust the Team • However, you should use your own corporate values when you run the workshop
ACTIVITY ONE Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are most important for you to deliver against your goals Once everyone is done, post a colored sticker in the relevant cell on the poster on the wall (don’t change based on what others are doing)
ACTIVITY ONE Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are most important for you to deliver against your goals Once everyone is done, post your colored sticker on the poster on the wall Let’s look at the group results and discuss outliers or obvious areas of similarity Areas of Similarity: Good to highlight Outliers: Good to discuss why! Why do we differ? Is it OK to differ?
ACTIVITY TWO Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are most rewarded by the organization Once everyone is done, post colored sticker in the right cell on the poster on the wall (don’t change based on what others are doing)

Once everyone is done, post your colored sticker on the poster on the wall Let’s look at the group results and discuss outliers or obvious areas of similarity AND where most rewarded and most critical differ Why the big difference? Is the difference OK? If not, should we take action as a team?
ACTIVITY THREE Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are most misunderstood. Once everyone is done, post colored sticker in the right cell on the poster on the wall (don’t change based on what others are doing)
ACTIVITY THREE Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are most misunderstood Once everyone is done, post your colored sticker on the poster on the wall Let’s look at the group results and discuss outliers or obvious areas of similarity Why so misunderstood? What do we think is the right interpretation, and what are some other interpretations in the wild?
ACTIVITY FOUR Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are personally strongest and personally weakest Once everyone is done, post colored sticker in the right cell on the poster on the wall (don’t change based on what others are doing)
ACTIVITY FOUR Without talking to others, individually, choose the 2 values that you think are personally strongest Once everyone is done, post your colored sticker on the poster on the wall Let’s look at the group results. How are we balanced as a team?
ACTIVITY FIVE On a piece of paper write down one thing you will START doing as a result of what you learned today On the same sheet, write down one thing you will STOP doing Last but not least, write down one thing that you will CONTINUE doing as a result of today Sign your name to the bottom Find one other person in the workshop and each of you explain your STOP/START/CONTINUE action plan. Now you sign theirs and they sign yours. When you sign someone else’s action plan, you agree to be their coach and follow up at least a couple of time in the year to ensure they are executing the plan
