Data Harmonization Profile: Public Comment • The Data Harmonization Profile was released for public comment 10/31/12 – 11/13/12 • Comments have been recorded and posted to the wiki, here: http://wiki.siframework.org/PHRI+Public+Comment (“Comment Log for Data Harmonization Profile”) • Comment resolution will continue through the week • Consensus on the document will occur in the coming weeks • Any additional comments should be submitted to Lindsay Brown (lrbrown@cdc.gov)
Stage 3 Sprint – Implementation Guide • Current draft of the CDA guidance is available for review and comment, here: http://wiki.siframework.org/PHRI+Public+Comment • Note that this version is pending updates to the report type specific content for adverse event and communicable disease case reporting • We anticipate releasing a complete draft for public comment and review in the next 2 weeks. Expect an email announcement. • Questions/comments can be submitted to Lindsay Brown (lrbrown@cdc.gov).
PHRI Pilot Discussion • Pilot Overview • Implement one or more pilots with identified clinical provider(s), EHR vendors, PH receiver, PH condition being reported, and the triggers supporting the reported condition(s) • Use real data in a “live” environment • Complete pilot and evaluation by May 15, 2013 (for Meaningful Use) • 2 potential pilots are in discussion right now: • Communicable Disease Case Reporting (CDC, CSTE, JPHIT) • Adverse Event Reporting (FDA)
PHRI Pilot Discussion • Pilot Objectives • Demonstrate executable implementations of harmonized data elements and specification templates • Document lessons learned to help guide their own implementation or to find problems with specifications • Encourage feedback to CDC and PHRI stakeholders to improve harmonized data elements and template specifications • Identify dependencies and burden on EHR data providers and public health agencies that send and receive data
Pilot Next Steps • Identify goals of pilot including • Specific condition(s) to be reported • Pilot success criteria • Timeline • Determine the stakeholders, roles, and responsibilities for each pilot • Identify technical infrastructure requirements • Coordination / lessons learned between pilots
PHRI “Phase 2” • Determine who will provide support and budget • CDC provided in phase 1; no commitment from any agency/organization for phase 2 • Solicit new participants and co-leads to tackle various topics; identify level of support for these topics • Dina Dickerson – use of HIE with EHR and data standards to support/promote care coordination • Diane Thorson – use of Omaha System in a public health CDA • Others? • Explore structure of the PHRI moving forward – subgroups doing the work in smaller teams and reporting back to the larger PHRI
