So Where am I Going to Apply? • UT • Strong science program • Tuition is relatively low • Austin would be a cool place to live • Stanford • It would be exciting if I got into this school. • It is an Ivy League school. • One of the best chemistry schools in the country • MIT • OK, I’m getting a bit ambitious now, but if I got in, it would be incredibly cool. • This school has one of the best chemistry programs in the world.

  4. OK, Cool. What Do I DO Now? Standardized Tests. • ACT • SAT (as alternative to ACT, or you can be a nerd and take both) • SAT Subject Tests (optional for most places, but MIT requires 2; I’m taking Chemistry and Math Level Two) • ALEKS (calculus test required by UT College of Natural Sciences)

  5. Applying to UT • SAT or ACT scores • ApplyTexas application • Two Essays • Application Fee • Transcript • Major specific requirements (ALEKS test for sciences) • Resume and recommendations (optional) • Deadline: December 1st

  6. Applying to Stanford • Online application form • Application fee • Stanford Writing Supplement (3 short essays) • Another essay • Two teacher evaluations • SAT or ACT (with writing) scores • SAT Subject Test scores are optional • Transcript • Deadline: January 1st (next year)

  7. Applying to MIT • SAT or ACT plus Writing scores • SAT math level one or two • SAT physics, chemistry or biology • Info or parent/guardians • State your major of interest • Short essays responses to provided questions • List of top 5 activities in high school • Coursework form • At least 2 letter of recommendation • Interview scheduled by October 20th • Everything else due November 1st
