  6. May 24, 1891 In 1891 twelve dedicated men and women gathered in their newly acquired church facility in Sauk City to organize a Lutheran congregation

  7. 1912 In 1911 the Universalist congregation in PdS disbanded and their facility was purchased by St. John’s and dedicated in January, 1912. This building is now St. James Lutheran

  8. 1965 In the mid-1960’s St. John’s had again grown out their facility. With land purchased in the 1950s construction was started on Oak Street in 1965

  9. April 24, 1966 The cornerstone laying ceremony in April with Pastor Frehling officiating

  12. Seating in the sanctuary or “Nave” for 350 persons.

  13. The Narthex provided overflow seating for 85 persons

  14. The entrance was our gathering area between services

  15. Our fellowship hall was in the education wing. Two of the larger rooms accordion dividers, allowing larger gathering areas when needed…

  16. The education wing accommodated 260 youth

  17. A cart and a few shelves scattered in some of the Sunday school rooms housed publications

  18. The Kitchen allowed rudimentary preparation and dish-washing capabilities

  19. A nursery was the one item that most everyone felt was needed to make young couples feel welcome

  23. Outgrown 1995

  24. By the mid-1990’s we had outgrown our facility. Finance and building committees were formed, the congregation was polled for suggestions and a new direction to grow our ministry was established.
