What is the Practicum? The Practicum aims to provide you with the environmental conditions to: • Apply and adapt the acquired knowledge and skills in an authentic workplace setting (e.g., to solve problems – develop curriculum, training and assessment resources in learning and development, conduct training and assessment, etc.) • Practice and apply professional skills as a trainer and Adult Educator
Key points Overview • Must complete Practicum and meet all its requirements within 3 months after the Core phase • Work closely with your SP supervisor and Practicum Host Organization Coordinator (PHO) • Involves 30 hours of contact time with PHO • Comprises Written Assignments and workplace Observation • Practicum is NOT graded – assessment is ‘C’ or ‘NYC’
Key work Involved The Practicum comprises Written Assignments and Workplace Observation • Written assignments will depend on the tripartite agreement between the candidate’s Practicum Host Organization (PHO) coordinator and SP Supervisor • Written products may include TNA report, curriculum development products, reflections of assessment practices, and video clips of your training • Workshop observation focuses of live performance in displaying some of the competencies listed in the Competency Standard. Key criteria include adapted competencies and practicum related competencies. • Assessment specifications are negotiated and based on the Learning Contract as well as the opportunities provided by the PHO Note: You are expected to take the initiative to provide the SP supervisor the necessary evidence in order to facilitate the assessment process
