5. A, E, I, O, and U are called VOWELS and all other letters are called CONSONANTS. Vowels make two different sounds. A long vowel sound and a short vowel sound. Today we will talk about short vowel sounds.

6. Today we will talk about the letter I I makes the “i” sound like the sound we make when we pretend to be shivering in our igloo.

7. You will find the letter I in a lot of words. When you see a vowel, like the letter I in between 2 consonants, it makes the short vowel sound. In this case, the “i” sound.
