  2. “The Necklace” • Read the story on pg. 160-168. Answer the following: • Plot and Setting Review: What is the setting of this story? (time and place both should be considered) • Plot and Setting Review: Identify what you believe the climax of this storyto be. (remember turning point in the story) • Characterization Review: How would you characterize Mathilde’s husband? (be sure to include if you believe he is flat, round, stock/static, dynamic) • Identify the point of view the story is written from (Omniscient, First-Person, or Third-Person Limited). • Provide a list of SPECIFIC evidence to support your point of view. • The tone of this story is often described as detached. Why do you believe this is the tone? If you do not think this is a good description of the tone, then assign a new tone and explanation as to why you believe this is a better fit. • Do you think Mme. Forestier should return the difference in the value between the original necklace and the one she received as a replacement? Why?
