Life and Living Skills – General Information Level – The scheme is pre entry level and broadly comparable with QCAs P scales. Suitable for – Young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. This scheme is also suitable for school pupils with learning difficulties whose attainments are below national curriculum levels. Entry Requirements – There are no formal entry requirements Scheme structure – Within scheme there are 6 Essential Skills Areas and 15 Vocational Skills Areas to choose from. Assessment – All modules are centre –assessed, usually by the learner’s tutor, and externally moderated by OCR.

Qualification Structure • Title OCR Entry Level Award in Life and Living Skills (Entry 3) • OCR code 10170 • QN 501/1143/7 (Qualification Number • To achieve this qualification, candidates must achieve a total of 6 credits; a minimum of 4 credits must be achieved at Entry Level 3. The remaining credits can be at Entry Level 1, 2 or 3 • GLH = 60 • Title OCR Entry Level Certificate in Life and Living Skills (Entry 3) • OCR code 10171 • QN 501/1033/0 (Qualification Number) • To achieve this qualification, candidates must achieve a total of 13 credits; a minimum of 7 credits must be achieved at Entry Level 3. The remaining credits can be at Entry Level 1, 2 or 3. • GLH = 115-130
Units chosen by HRC Skill Area – HOME MANAGEMENT • Ent L2 Following a simple recipe = 3unit • Ent L3 Food hygiene & safety = 2 units • Ent L3 Basic food preparation = 2 units Skill Area – MANUFACTURING • Ent L3 Contributing to the manufacture of a product = 2 units • Ent L3 Producing a Product = 1 unit • Ent L3 Working as part of a group = 2 units • Ent L3 Health & safety procedures at work = 2 units Skill Area – MOTOR VEHICLES • Ent L3 Identification of basic external and internal car parts = 1 unit • Ent L3 Carrying out basic vehicle maintenance = 2 units • Ent L3 Health & safety procedures at work = 2 units • Ent L1 Developing skills for the workplace: following instructions = 2 units
Assessment • Each module is designed around the principle that candidates will build a portfolio of evidence. • There are 2 main sources of evidence for this Award: • Outcome of activities, i.e artwork, photos, charts, diagrams, story board, models, posters etc • Observations , recorded observation of candidate performance by assessor whilst the candidate is carrying out an activity. These must show a link between the observed activity and the Evidence must show that you can statements All units must then be internally assessed/moderated and an Entry made to OCR via Interchange. All work is then sent to the OCR Examiner. Certificates can be claimed at any time through the year.
