  2. Great Pyramid of Giza In my opinion the Great Pyramid of Giza is a remarkable sight that should be in the seven wonders. Characteristics of Pyramid • The Pyramid of Giza is an incredible archeological sight that is located in the capital of Egypt, Cairo. • Every year many tourists visit the pyramids. They are attracted by their beauty and also by the mysteries that are hidden in them. • The Great Pyramid of Gizais the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis.

  3. When it was first built, its height was 147m. Today it is 138.8m high. This height loss is due to the removal of smooth limestone. • 2,300,000 limestone blocks were used for constructing the pyramid, weighing, on average, 2.5 tons each. • The pyramid was built as a tomb by the Egyptians for the Fourth Egyptiandynasty.

  4. Today, tourists enter the Great Pyramid through a forced tunnel. This tunnel continues for approximately 30 meters and eventually meets up with the Descending Passage that has been blocked of massive granite. The original entrance, which was unknown at the time, can be seen today several meters directly above the forced entry and would have also been blocked bygranite. • 400,000 men were needed and 20 years to build, around 2560 BC.
