Operating System Software • Every computer needs an operating system to enable the hardware to communicate with and operate the software. • Manages user input and system input and then in response allocates and manages tasks.  • For example it controls and allocates memory, prioritizes system requests, controls input and output devices, facilitates networking and manages file systems. • Example: Windows 7

  3. Office Suite Software • An office suite, in terms of computer software is a set of related or bundled software related to office use. • Some office suite software you might already know are MS Office, Corel Word Perfect Office, Star Office and Open Office.

A flat database is a small database where the table is expressed in rows and columns. The telephone book is an example of a flat database. • In a relational database, several tables can be linked to one another.  For example, store might want a database of products (jeans and sweaters), markets (regions), and over time (days, weeks and months).  Picture the database as a cube. • Examples of database software are MS Access and Open Office Base

  10. Slideshow presentation • Is used to present information in the form of a slideshow.  • Slideshows generally include text, graphics and animation of slides.  Slides can be printed, displayed on screen or navigated through by the presenter.  • Examples: MS PowerPoint, Corel Presentations and Open Office Impress.

  11. Email software • I know you’re all experts in this one, but just in case! • Email software is used to compose, send, store, forward and receive emails. • Common email software packages include MS Outlook Express (free with Internet Explorer), MS Outlook, Eudora, and Netscape Mail.

  12. In addition to office suite software, a company may require other software such as....
