  2. SERVICE IMPLEMENTED ON FEBRUARY 2, 2009 • Demand Response • Curb-to-curb • Prescheduled trips throughout St. Charles and St. John • Three 10 or 12 passenger vehicles • Leave the gate at 5:30 am return at 7:30 pm Monday through Friday

  3. FARE POLICY • $2.00 for each one –way trip • Cash fares only, drivers will not have change • RPTA is developing a passbook program through which riders can purchase discounted passes

  4. 24 HOUR ADVANCED SCHEDULING REQUIRED • CONTACT RPTA 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE FOR NEXT DAY SERVICE • Call during regular office hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm • Speak to a person to ensure your trip is scheduled. • Toll Free 1-877-651-1171 • Local Number 985-651-1141

  5. Coordination with St. James ParishRequires 48 hour advance schedule • St. James Parish residents continue to call St. James Transit at 225-562-2352 • Riders make known they need to make a connection to RPTA • Dispatchers of each service will confer to provide the best available connecting trips for rider • St. James Transit one way fare is $1.00 ; total for connecting trip is $3.00

  6. OTHER CONNETING SERVICES REQUIRE 48 HOUR ADVANCE REQUEST • RPTA is working out details for connections to LaSwift’s LaPlace stop • RPTA has permission to drop off and pick up riders for return trips at existing transit stops along 3rd Street, Williams, and Airline Hwy in Kenner • Can only bring people to existing stops and pick up people at these same stops wanting to return to the RPTA service area

  7. TRANSIT OPERATIONS • RPTA hired Veolia Housed at 149 Woodland, LaPlace • Transportation, Inc. to provide the service • Aislinn Costello, Operations Manager • Nine person staff including dispatchers and drivers

  8. SMALL VEHICLES • Three 12 passenger vehicles and one 10 passenger vehicle • All wheelchair lift equipped • Each can accommodate two wheelchairs • One supervisor’s vehicle that can also be used for road calls

  9. FUNDING SOURCES This program is possible through funding from • St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and St. James Parishes • The United Way of St. Charles • The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development • The Federal Transit Administration • A Federal Highway Administration Grant to the South Central Planning and Development Commission
