What is the new campaign? • Based on UKPDS Follow-Up Study: early and tight control can prevent complications later • Encourages patients to make a plan to manage their diabetes • Targeted messages for various high-risk audiences • Real people with diabetes shown with a family member (family support is important)

How is NDEP promoting thecampaign messages? • NDEP created and distributed toolkits for partners to promote the campaign • Six posters (one in Spanish) • Press release you can customize to use locally • Live-read radio PSA • Fact Sheet • Feature Article • E-newsletter Blurb • Tips and Talking Points for the Media • National media outreach including print, broadcast, and radio • Online: www.YourDiabetesInfo.org

  6. How can you help? • Work with patients to get good control right from the start! • Encourage patients to make a plan • Let patients know that having diabetes is not easy, but managing it well (especially early after diagnosis) is worth it
