Sweat shop campaign By Venus Bright
What is a sweat shop? A sweat shop is a shop that goes to poor countries and make them work for money but the money is worthless and under what they should be paid. Most of the workers don’t get a holiday and they sometimes they don’t get enough money to look after themselves and they get paid per clothing rather than hours and most workers will go over the hours set, so they can earn more money for their family.
Example of a sweat shop Primark is a sweat shop. Primark Is a very successful sweat shop brand but a lot of people who shop there don’t know that it is a sweat shop and what effects it has on the people. Children aren’t meant to work but some do for Primark as they need money so parents get the children to work so they earn enough money.
conditions Most people don’t know what these conditions are like in these countries that people work for sweat shops compared to ours and how we are buying the clothes that they are making. They conditions they live in is horrible their houses aren’t strong and don’t keep a lot of water out most family's share as they can’t afford a home for themselves and they usually find scrap on the floor so they use that for there houses.
What we are trying to do We are trying to stop them working over time. We are trying to stop them living in hard conditions. We are trying to help them earn more money. These are the most important things we are working on to try and help these poor people and not many have an education so all they can do is work for Primark as there is no other option for them.
incidents There have been certain incidents from sweat shops. There has been a incident a with Nike as they used to be a sweat shop and now they aren’t but they made someone run and run round a track and they died from all of this. They didn’t have much money as they didn’t get paid a lot of money.
Why we should buy from Sweat shops We should by from sweat shops because if it means we can help those poor people we might as well help them earn better money and better clothing for themselves. By buying this it helps them get better housing areas and can help them get food to help them.
Why we shouldn't by From sweat shops Because all these poor people that can’t even afford their own clothes are making your clothes for cheep and they are making these from hand and get hardly anything and then Primark is getting a massive profit and doesn’t help these people from poor conditions to make their life better than it should be.
What we do We should start thinking about these poor people and help them. What if we was in their shoes having to work like that having to live in those houses. Having no money to afford much food. Paid under average but they can’t say anything. They can’t make a difference like we can. Most of them can’t even read yet write. They just no how to speak because they pick it up as they grown up and people walking past talking. So they don’t have an education but we can give them an education.
how? We can save them from having to live in these conditions. You see adverts on the TV to help but none for these. We should start making some adverts and get more people interested and aware what is happening when they walk in and buy something for £3.00 while they get 12p for it.
