Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 Putting Things in Perspective 2007 Season: Senior sections merged New club brand and uniform developed Great end of year Presentation Nights Positive forward looking feeling around all the club – many people wanting to plan and organise to improve – there is a strong future. RMIT University

Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 Putting Things in Perspective 2007 Season: 24 Junior teams – 1MP, 14 in top 4, 3 A grade teams (all Girls) 7 Mens team – 3 minor premiers, 6 in top 4, 4 in a GF and 3 flags 6 Womens team – 2 finished 2nd, 3 in top 4, 2 in a GF and 1 flag 3 Vets team – all three in top 4, A grade in GF RMIT University

Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 • What does this show us? - Juniors • Junior teams continue to develop since merger in 2006. • Most of lower graded junior teams are playing against the top teams of other clubs. • All teams are very competitive without dominating grades – no mixed in A grade. RMIT University

  6. Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 • What does this show us? - Vets • Depth of Vets helped all teams. • Players are capable to play at the teams grade. • All teams are very competitive without dominating grades. RMIT University

  7. Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 • What does this show us? - Seniors • Merger has been very effective • Most teams are playing below true level • Strong lower grade teams with a need to improve higher grade teams • Nothing we did not know!!! RMIT University

Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 • 2008 • Juniors will have 17, 13, 11, G17, G15 and G13 in A grade • Men’s will be playing in 3 higher grades • Women’s will be playing in SL1, PA 2 x M1 • The club will have an increase in numbers • More juniors will be moving into seniors RMIT University

Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 • All very obvious • As we improve up the grades we need to • Train longer and harder to make the same improvements in skills and team play • Players have to improve technique execution in games to compete • Players need to improve decision making • Fitness levels need to rise RMIT University

Southern United H.C.Coaching Workshop Nov 2007 • But!!!!! • We have no more real training time available for all teams to access extra ground time. • We don’t have coaches for all team • So what can we do? • Be more effective with the time we have • Empower our players to learn themselves • Create more learning opportunities for the atheletes RMIT University
