Leadership and Management Advisory Service (LMAS) • The Skills Funding Agency has announced new funding for a training and development programme in the West Midlands up to the end of March 2012 • The Leadership and Management Advisory Service gives senior leaders of businesses and social enterprises the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in order to grow their organisations Benefits of LMAS… Funded learning and development will address one or more of the following: • Developing a highly effective personal leadership and management style • Creating an effective business culture • Planning and developing your business and its teams • Building high performance across your business

  3. Who can apply ? If you • Have 2-249 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employees – one of which will be the beneficiary. • Display potential for high or fast growth. • Are a private sector business or a social enterprise. You may be eligible to apply * • Funding is made for the development of a senior manager or key decision maker. • Legislative development cannot be funded. • Funding must be claimed within 90 days of the PDP being agreed. • All submissions by the end of March 2012. *Organisations who have accessed previous Leadership & Management funding initiatives from the LSC/SFA may be eligible if they meet the high growth criteria. Definition of High or Fast Growth • Established private sector SMEs (those trading for more than 12 months) with the potential to increase turnover or number of employees by 60% in the next three years. • Established social enterprises (those trading for more than 12 months) with the potential to increase turnover or number of employees by 30% year on year for three years. • Start ups (those trading for fewer than 12 months) with the potential to achieve a turnover of £500,000 within three years of starting trading.

Step 2 Personal Development Plan & Application • An experienced Advisor will discuss diagnostic report and help you identify development areas • Document discussion areas • Create an agreed action plan – with provision to meet development opportunities • Explain the application process • Help complete the application form • Support the application need • Process in a timely manner • Keep communication with the client as required Step 3 Review of Training and Grant Claim • A face to face meeting with an Advisor • Reviewing your training activity and the impact for your organisation • Checking your grant claim paperwork • Submitting your claim for payment

What’s not Funded • Funding does not support: • Membership fees - for example, to join or renew membership of a professional or trade association. • Travel, subsistence, accommodation costs etc. • Statutory training – where it is a legislative requirement for a manager to have a particular • management qualification. • Mandatory training e.g. any CPD training, even if outside of the job holder’s existing CPD credits. • Technical training or training that does not support the beneficiary to fully engage and make full use of • their staff. The following list provides specific examples of excluded training but is not an exhaustive list: • Health and Safety training, IT/Software training (such as Sage/CAD/Internet), marketing training*, • social media training, project management training (such as Prince 2), tendering/bid writing, any • financial training*. • Capital equipment. • Business networks/clubs. • Using the grant to replace employer contributions to other Skills Funding Agency or ESF • funding streams.

What’s is Funded? • Funding does support: • Coaching and Mentoring • Strategic Planning • Communications and Presentations Skills • Defining Roles and Responsibilities • Bespoke Training • ILM and other Leadership Courses • Leadership Styles and Skills Training • NLP in Leadership • Degree/Diploma – there needs to be a link to Leadership
