  1. Bellwork Write a Two Word Sentence. How do you know it is a sentence? What parts constitute a sentence? Read the following and decide if it is a complete sentence: (write it down, then write CS for complete, and IS for incomplete)A) While walking her pet gorilla, Wendy tripped on a banana peel.B) While walking her pet gorilla.C) Wendy tripped on a banana peel.

  2. Independent Clause An independent clause is a group of words that contains a subjectand verband expresses a complete thought. An independent clause is a sentence. Example Wendy trippedon a banana peel.

  3. Dependent Clause A dependent clause is a group of words that contains a subject and verb but does not express a complete thought. A dependent clause cannot be a sentence. Often a dependent clause is marked by a dependent marker word. Example When Wendy tripped on a banana peel… (what happened?!)
