  1. Community Service Project Lauralee Schoenberg

  2. What is my project? My project was a two week trip to Uganda, Africa. Uganda is about 20 hours away from the state of Washington.

  3. What did we do there? Our plane landed in Entebe, and then we drove to a city called Kampala.

  4. After a couple days in Kampala, we took an 8 hour bus ride North to the town of Arua.

  5. In Arua, our team delivered supplies to finish building a school in a village called Kabir. This school is called Hope Kabir. It began as a nursery school, and then they grew out of the space, so this new building will allow for them to begin a primary and secondary school. Most of the children in this village have never had the opportunity to go to school. One of the future students

  6. We also got to visit a refugee camp and deliver water filters to families who fled from the warfare happening in Uganda’s neighboring country, Sudan.

  7. There were kids everywhere, and they LOVED having their picture taken. They are so cute!!

  8. How has it changed me? This trip opened my eyes and heart. I experienced a new kind of joy from people who do not take anything for granted. They showed me what it means to be thankful no matter what your circumstance is.
