(Cont…) • Never meet someone you’ve met in a chatroom • There are criminals who prey on unsuspecting internet users • These people use the internet as another way of hurting young ones • i.e. sexual predators • Always remain vigilante • Report anything to your parents or teachers that make you feel uncomfortable Return to Ethics WebQuest

  4. Ethical Issues • Bullies exist in cyberspace too • Anyone can be a bully • By sending a hateful email anonymously, you too can be considered a bully • Even though it’s anonymous, it can still have a damaging effect on the receiving end Return to Ethics WebQuest

Conclusion • We have discussed issues relating to safety and ethic in regards to internet & email usage • Main points to consider: • Anyone can be anyone online • Take into consideration how you would feel if you got a hateful or disturbing email anonymously • Remain vigilante • Contact a parent or teacher if you come across something that is either inappropriate, makes you feel uncomfortable, or both • Remember, we are here to ensure you get the most out of your online learning experience!!!
