INTRODUCTION • Flagship Programme of Ministry of Education with a intention to enrich Rural India. • Launched on 11 November, 2014 by honorable PM Narendra Modi • Relaunched on 25 July, 2018 as UBA 2.0 • A movement to connect institutes of higher education with local communities to address the development challenges of rural India through appropriate technological inventions.

VISION • UnnatBharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India. • MISSION • The Mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable faculty and students to work with the people of rural area in Identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth. • It also aims to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions. • Fostering social responsibility among the stakeholders of HEI
OBJECTIVES • To Encourage Indian higher education Institutions to engage with problems of rural India and to provide solutions for them. • To Develop an academic framework for working on social problems, their solution, delivery, reporting and assessment. • To Develop over time, research areas which have developmental significance, such as drinking water, education, health, agricultural practices, electrification, agricultural and rural industries cooking energy, watershed analysis.
To Promote networking and coordination among various science and technology based voluntary organizations and developmental agencies. • To Foster collaborations between governance, knowledge institutions and local communities. • To Provide rural India with professional resource support from institutes of higher education, • To identify the basic developmental and productive needs of a village and find ways and means to meet these needs.

ROLE OF PARTICIPATING INSTITUTES (PIs) • The responsibilities of Participating Institutes (PIs) are: • The Participating Institute will adopt at least five villages in consultation with the District Collectors for the development activities under the UBA. • Participating Institutions are expected to do field studies, study the implementation of the Government schemes, and facilitate their better implementation so that they meet their objectives best.
PIs should engage interested faculties, students, NSS and other bodies of the institutes engaged in community activities. • The selected PIs will work with State Government, district authorities, other institutions and non-governmental bodies, for arriving at suitable solutions for improving the social and economic well-being of the rural communities.
ADOPTED VILLAGES Abhayapuri College, Abhayapuri is selected as Participant Institute for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan among the Best Higher Education Institutes(Non-Technical) in India under UBA 2.0. In consultation with the Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon a cluster of five villages in SrijangarmRevenue Circle, have been identified as Adopted Villages. COMMUNITY BASED PARTICIPATORY RESEACH (CBPR) • As envisioned by National Education Policy 2020 community engagement must be a part of regular learning, UGC hasdeveloped Draft Syllabus and Circulated • 2 Credit Compulsory Course • 1 Credit Theory. • 1 Credit Practical • Course Implementation from Academic Year 2022-23.

Future Action Plan of UBA Cell, Abhayapuri College • Awareness programme/Gaonsabhato be held in each of the Five Adopted Villages of the College. • Village Survey and Household Survey to be conducted for Adopted Villages. • Data Analysis of the Survey • Submission of the Report in UBA Portal and to the District Administration. • Extension activities and training programmes will be organized in each adopted village by various cells and departments of the college.
