Rafael Robson Negrão - rafael@uel.br Classificação das redes Quanto ao tamanho Redes Locais (LAN (significa Local Area Network, ou Rede Local) é um sistema que interliga computadores em uma área de alcance bastante restrita. Em geral limita-se a prédios ou até mesmo prédios próximos. Rede metropolitana (MAN - Metropolitan Area Network ou Rede de Área Metropolitana, abrange uma cidade. Rede de grande porte (WAN – Wide Área Network Wide, Rede de área alargada ou Rede de longa distância, também conhecida como Rede geograficamente distribuída, é uma rede de computadores que abrange uma grande área geográfica, com freqüência um país ou continente.
