  2. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. Slide 2

  3. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION II Peter 3:8 [8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.[9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.[10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 7. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Joel 2:1-2 [1] Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;[2] A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. Slide 7

  8. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Joel 3:1-2 [1] For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,[2] I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. Slide 8

  9. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Zechariah 14:2 [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Slide 9

  10. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Ezekiel 36:1-12 [1] Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD:[2] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession: Slide 10

  13. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Ezekiel 36:1-12 [3] Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:[4] Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that are round about;[5] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.[6] Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen:[7] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame. Slide 13

  14. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Ezekiel 36:1-12 [8] But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.[9] For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:[10] And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:[11] And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.[12] Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men. Slide 14

  15. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Joel 1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. Slide 15

  16. Slide 16

  17. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Joel 3:6 [6] The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. Slide 17

  18. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah 28:14-18 [14] Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.[15] Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:[16] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.[17] Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.[18] And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. Slide 18

  19. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Zephaniah 1:14-15 [14] The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.[15] That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, Slide 19

  20. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Zephaniah 2:4 [4] For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up. Slide 20

  21. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Joel 3:9-13 [9] Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:[10] Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.[11] Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.[12] Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.[13] Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Slide 21

  24. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Psalm 126 [1] When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.[2] Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.[3] The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.[4] Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.[5] They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.[6] He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Slide 24

  25. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah13: 1, 6, 17 [1] The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. [6] Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. [17] Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. Slide 25

  26. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah13:18-20 [18] Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.[19] And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.[20] It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. Slide 26

  27. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah 14:1 [1] For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. Slide 27

  28. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah 21:1-10 [1] The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.[2] A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.[3] Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.[4] My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.[5] Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.[6] For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.[7] And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:[8] And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:[9] And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.[10] O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you. Slide 28

  29. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Fall of Babylon Isaiah 47 Jeremiah 50 Jeremiah 51 Revelation 14 Revelation 16 Revelation 18 Slide 29

  30. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Jeremiah 51:11-13 [11] Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.[12] Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.[13] O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness. Slide 30

  31. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah 34: [8] For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. Slide 31

  32. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Ezekiel Chapter 37:15-22 [15] The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, [16] Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:[17] And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.[18] And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?[19] Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.[20] And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.[21] And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:[22] And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: Slide 32

  33. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Jeremiah 50:4-5 [4]In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. [5] They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten. Slide 33

  34. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 18:10-11 [10] Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.[11] And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: Slide 34

  35. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Jeremiah 50:9 & 15 [9] For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain. [15] Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. Slide 35

  36. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Jeremiah 50:16 [16] Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land. Slide 36

  37. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 12:1-2 [1] And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:[2] And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. Slide 37

  38. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Genesis 37:9-10 [9] And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.[10] And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? Slide 38

  39. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Isaiah 66:8, 9 14 [8] Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. [9] Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. [14] And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. Slide 39

  40. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 12:6 [6] And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. Slide 40

  41. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Exodus 19:3-4 [3] And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;[4] Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. Slide 41

  42. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 12:6, 14 [6] And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. [14] And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. Slide 42

  43. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 12:15-17 [15] And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.[16] And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.[17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Slide 43

  44. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 12:3 [3] And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. Slide 44

  45. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 13:1-2 [1] And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.[2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. Slide 45

  46. THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION Revelation 13:5 [5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. Slide 46
