  1. Catcher in the RyeBy: J.D Salinger By: Andre Webster 10/21/11 Period 5B

  2. Holden’s school life • Holden goes to a boarding school. He doesn’t really like it all that well. His parents basically just sent him off to the school because they don’t want to have to deal w/ him. He is going to be expelled from his school because he is failing most of his classes. He is scared of the trouble he is going to get into. While he’s there he endures fights and hardships, so he decides to leave the school for good a few days early before his expulsion.

  3. Holden’s home life • At home it pretty hard for Holden having to deal with the fact that his younger brother is dead. He is still very sad about it event though it happened a while before he is telling his story. His mother is still very sad about it also, which is why Holden was so worried about her finding out about his expulsion because he knew that this information would add on to her heartbreak.

  4. Holden’s likes • Smoking • Real People • People that he can relate to • Siblings • Girls • Clubs • Holden likes for people to treat him like an adult so he tends to appeal to adult interests.

  5. Holden’s dislikes • Phonies • People that he cant relate to • Most adults • School • Peers • Parents

  6. Lhs • Lindenwold is a big community and I think that if Holden came to Lindenwold and went to LHS he’d actually like it because it is a great school. There are many things about the school that he’d like and be able to relate to because there is something for everyone here. He’d like the variety of things to do at this school because there is something for everyone here. I think that his dream elective would be a newspaper editorial because he is very opinionated about many things. He probably wouldn’t like the fact that you’re not suppose to smoke on school grounds because he is a very frequent smoker.

  7. Schedule • History w/ Mrs. Rogers • Physical Science w/ Mr. Morgan • Gym w/ Mrs. Scott • Lunch • Spanish 1 w/ Mr. Reed • English 10 w/ Mrs. Ryan • Algebra 1 w/ Mr. Shannon • Newspaper editorial

  8. Teachers • I think that he would like Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Morgan, and Ms. Scott. He’ll probably like Mrs. Rogers because she is a fun teacher to joke around with and make you laugh. He’d probably like Mr. Morgan because he is really laid back and doesn’t really get on you about things. Holden doesn’t like to be messed with so Mr. Morgan would be a really good teacher for him. I think that he’d like Ms. Scott too because she is very athletic and she is fun to talk to about mostly anything.

  9. classes • I think that he would like all of his classes because they are all good classes and they are also required for school. I put the classes physical science, algebra 1, and Spanish 1 because if he was failing all of his classes at his old school, so he’d probably be in those classes if he came here. Instead of being in regular sophomore classes like he’s suppose to be, because he’d be a sophomore if he came to this school. I put his elective as newspaper editorial because he is very opinionated and say what comes to mind so this would be perfect job for him to do if he came to this school.

  10. Music • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9caA1QkWj4 • This song shows that the rapper drake gets lonely. It says that even though he is a celebrity and has fans he does get lonely too. This really relates to Holden because he also gets lonely many times in the book. He also tends to alienate himself, but he does feel very alone and lonely in the book. One time it was to the point when he started crying because he felt so alone. He doesn’t really have any friends and he only likes to associate himself with his little sister Phoebe.
