  21. Product Portfolio
  22. Inventronics – Product Portfolio One of the broadest portfolios in the industry with nearly 40 families recognized to UL8750. Over 400 individual part numbers. All products designed from the start as lighting class products. Both low voltage (for Class 2 applications) and high voltage product offerings Comprehensive datasheets Standard, modified standard and custom development capabilities.
  23. Constant Current Constant Voltage 25 to 300W 12V to 150V Most common output voltage is 24V Multiple outputs available Indoor & outdoor 5.2W to 200W 350mA, 450mA, 700mA, 1050mA, up to 6.3A With or without dimming Multiple outputs available
  24. Inventronics – LED Drivers Key Attributes Wide input range (typically 90-305 Vac) High Efficiency (many products over 90%) Long Life (cooler running products last longer) High Power Factor(up to 0.99) All-Round Protection: OVP,SCP,OTP Lightning Protection(IEC-61000-4-5 Class 4) Comply with international safety & EMC regulations (e.g UL8750) Waterproof (IP66-67) – suited for outdoor applications
  25. Technical Advantages Advanced circuit design leading to more efficient energy usage Good component temperature control extending the unit life and reliability Use of a resonant technique that makes the switch work in soft switching state, reducing the switching loss and heat The application of proprietary patented synchronous rectifier control, reduces secondary rectification power loss The use professional potting techniques & metal enclosure to improve thermal design Key components are sourced from high quality suppliers Uses long life capacitor
  26. For most electronic power supplies, one life limiting component is the electrolytic capacitor. These components have a predictable wear out mechanism – the evaporation of the electrolyte. Electrolytic Capacitors
  27. Electrolytic Capacitors In addition to ambient temperature, there are many other factors affecting the life of the electrolytic capacitors. It is important to: Choose components carefully. Utilize quality suppliers. Derate capacitors appropriately. Manage the ripple current and component temperature.
  28. Electrolytic Capacitors Capacitor Life (hours) As a general rule, the life of any give electrolytic capacitor degrades by half with each 10C rise in component temperature. Ambient Temperature Example based on a typical 150W driver.
  29. Electrolytic Capacitors Case Temp (C) For a given ambient temperature and operating point, the case temperature of the driver will largely be determined by driver efficiency. Driver Efficiency Case Temperature vs Efficiency (based on typical 150W driver)
  30. Electrolytic Capacitors Product Life (hours) In this example, moving from 85% efficiency to 95% efficiency increases product life by a factor of 3.5X. Note: this is using the exact same high quality capacitors. Driver Efficiency Life Time vs Efficiency (Typical, calculated at 55℃ Ambient Temperature, assume 10,000 hour long life aluminum caps are used)
  31. ROI and the Power Electronics The power electronics (driver) impacts the actual return on investment due to: Product cost Efficiency Life Reliability The design of the driver has significant impact on the project ROI.
  32. The Triple Impact of Efficiency Higher efficiency in the driver has a triple impact: It uses lowers energy costs resulting in direct operating savings. It lowers component temperatures resulting in longer life Lower component temperatures also produce higher reliability. The difference is bigger than you might think.
  33. Efficiency vs Lifetime Power Consumption Energy Usage (kWh) For the same 150W supply over a lifetime of 50,000 hours: 95% uses 395 kWh 85% uses 1324 kWh At 9 cents / kWh, the 95% converter saves $83.60 over its life. Cost savings of $ 209k for an installation with 2500 drivers Driver Efficiency
  34. Efficiency vs Power Loss Pdiss (W) For a 150W supply: 95% = 7.9W loss 85% = 28.5W loss That’s not a 10% difference – it’s a factor of 3.3x All of the power loss is dissipated in the driver as heat. Driver Efficiency
  35. Heat Impacts Reliability & Life Heat both increases failure rate and shortens product life. Failure Rate T4 T3 T2 T1 Time
  36. Reliability Failure rates of LED drivers are dominated by the semiconductor devices which includes the main MOSFETs, diodes, control ICs, and opto-coupler. The electrolytic capacitors contribute only a small portion of the driver failure rate. The failure rates of semiconductor devices are largely dependent on the operating temperature. Typically the failure rate of an LED driver is increased by 25-40% for every 10C increase in the case temperature (and internal components).
  37. Reliability Our demonstrated reliability at this site is already in excess of 3 million hours.
  38. Efficiency vs Reliability Calculated MTBF All other factors being the same, the heat dissipated to power loss has a significant impact on reliability. In this example, an 85% eff. driver has half the reliability of a 95% eff. driver. Driver Efficiency Example based on a typical 150W driver.
  39. Standard Certifications Standard configuration of Inventronics LED Driver is: UL8750 (+ class 2 if output voltage < 60V) CE (IEC61347-1/-2-13, IEC61547) FCC part15 (Class B) The certifications can be customized.
  40. Standard Certifications The Inventronics products meet (or will meet) most safety certification requirements. Some certifications may require a minor adjustment (e.g. wire color) and therefore a separate part number.
  41. Competitive Position When comparing Inventronics to other competitors there are a number of key specifications to compare. These include: Life/Reliability IP Rating Inrush current Power factor Efficiency Thermal performance Input voltage range Surge protection
  42. Competitive Position Thermal Performance Meanwell LPV Series Inventronics EUV-076
