  3. Success Criteria • Deciding what my Grade 9 courses will be • Completing a ‘draft copy’ of your course selections in Career Cruising • Submitting the Registration Form and Course Selection sheet the deadlines • Awareness of what happens next

  4. Information...you now have King City S.S. Grade 9 foldercontains: • Master Sheet of Courses at King • Registration Form • Career Cruising/ Registration Instruction Flyer • Open House flyer

  7. You are able to track your progress in meeting these requirements in the Career Cruising Course Planner

  8. How to register... A. Refer to the Registration Instruction flyer for directions to choose and print your course selections. Complete the Registration Form - Must be at KCSS by February 1st. Transfer Forms need to be handed in at that time.

  9. To select your courses... • Review the King City Course Offerings sheet. Highlight the courses in the Grade 9 column you might want to take (or learn more about) Remember this sheet?

  14. Go to: Choose My Courses Your name will appear here

  15. Select Courses Your High School is seen here Check out these icons for further info To view a complete list of courses available at King and their descriptions click here

  16. Remember this sheet…Review this info before submitting your selections…

  17. Add Compulsory Courses – shown in yellow • click on the “+” to open the course options • the courses available for you to choose will be shown in yellow • click the “+” on the course to add to the planner

  18. Add Elective Courses – shown in white • click on the “+” to open the course options • using the drop down menu find “Grade 9 Electives” • available courses will be shown in white • click the “+” on the course to add to the planner • repeat until all Electives have been added

  19. You must also choose an Alternate course. • Choose this in the same way you choose the Elective courses. • This course may be used if the other elective choices could not be scheduled.

  20. Advisor notes “Warning Note” Some course have recommendations. Mouse over the blue symbol and read the message. Acknowledge these recommendations before selecting the course. “Issue Note” Some courses have specific requirements. A course with this symbol, if selected will prevent you from submitting your Course Selections. Grade 9 courses do not have the redsymbol.

  21. Click the “SUBMIT” button to submit the courses • Print your selections and have them signed by your parent/guardian • Hand in to your Grade 8 teacher

  22. Print your Course Selection Sheet; Sign it Have your parent/guardian sign it Hand it in to your teacher with the Registration form

  23. Your choices help determine the school’s ‘master timetable’ …how many classes, where they are scheduled, in what period, in what semester etc. Why is this so important…

  24. Important • The Registration form is due at King by February 1 • Transfer Request form (if requested) is also due at that time. • These are all submitted to your teacher

  25. Important • You can create a ‘draft copy’ of your Course selections now. Review your mid-year report and consider the recommendations of your teachers. • Your ‘final copy’ of your Course selections can be submitted in Career Cruising beginning Monday, February 13 and before Friday, February 24 • The Course Selection sheet is printed, signed by both student and parent and due at King by Monday, February 27

  26. then... • You will get a Course Verification Sheet in March. Have you selected correctly? • Visit by King City students in the Spring

  27. and then... • Pass Grade 8 • Late August Registration and timetable pickup • School starts 1st day – Grade 9 only

  28. Final words of advice… • Review your Grade 8 performance in March and compare to your choices for next September. Have you selected courses for which you have the academic preparation? • Make realistic decisions. • Remember that you can take longer than 4 years to complete your high school diploma • Work hard and be optimistic about your future!
