  2. HOT ISSUES Industry Gates – When doing your patrols during the day please make sure that these gates are locked. There is a chain and a lock on the gate. They are to be secured so that the employees and inmates cannot just push the gates and walk between them, the chain is long enough for this to happen. Just a reminder to all CX that when you have an inmate in the holding cells please open the food slot whenever someone comes to speak to the inmate. If opening the door for someone to speak to him than this puts the person speaking to him and us at risk.

  5. ACHIEVEMENTS Labour Management Meeting There was a big win for us on getting an internal response vehicle that will enable us to respond better to any emergency. This was achieved with the help of CM Scott Ritchie. We have established with management that sallyport is not an accommodation post for those who have weapons restrictions. The union puts staff safety and the safety and special needs of those accommodated officers first. We eliminated the automatic LWOP that the Deputy Warden was trying to enforce, if CX did not enter their leave in to HRMS within 5 days. In its place will be several reminders. We have established a protocol for accommodation cases that they do not bump permanent line from their roster position. In fact “all “ other options have to be exhausted first including double banking. We have ensured all retro instructors allowances are to be paid ASAP and in the future in a timely fashion. Executive members took the CDs to task and established without discipline that walks can be staggered as long as one is completed (or more) every hour. Walks deemed to be late by management 60sec or more now require CM to do OSOR not CX.
