Authenticity What does it mean to be AUTHENTIC? • “Conforming to fact and therefore worthy of trust, reliance, or belief; not counterfeit or copied.” • The authentic person is reliable because their inner values and motivations are clear. • “Knowing and staying true to ones authentic Self is the foundation of Leadership” In order to be an Authentic Leader you must have clear values.

Authenticity An Authentic Leader • Ensures his/her values are consistent with a high standard of fairness and ethics • Demonstrates behavior that aligns with his/her values • Accepts responsibility for his/her actions • Embraces opportunities with optimism • Believes in his/her potential In order to be an Authentic Leader you must have clear values.

Beliefs “ A leader knows their values and remains true to them” • Values =Principles that define/determine your moral/ethical behavior. • Values govern the way we behave, communicate and interact with others • Beliefs are concepts that we hold to be true. • Beliefs derive from your values. How to become Authentic? • Identify your values and passions • Identify ethical behavior • Identify role models that have the same values and passions • Spend time reflecting on weather your actions are consistent with your values. • Identify areas that you need growth in • Commit to your own physical well being.

  8. An Authentic Leader: • Is ethical and honest in all circumstances • Delivers on commitments • Accepts responsibility for behavior • Can describe personal values and how they fit with life choices • Has a better sense of self that integrates body, mind and spirit.
